Greetings from the Women’s Institute for the District of North Renfrew. The following branch has reported on their meeting for the month of Sept. 2020.

Greenwood: Members met on Sept. 12th outside at The Homestead Cheese, while practising a self distancing.. The President Sheila Kenny opened the meeting with members repeating The Mary Stewart Collect. The Roll Call was “Name something you did for a person/family during the COVID-19” lock down”.

The Secretary Kathy Bennett read the minutes from the last meeting which was held in Jan. 2020.

The Treasurer Gail Fletcher gave her report and advised that most members have paid their fees. Pictures of our meeting will be forwarded to Christine Reaburn.

Home & Country magazines were distributed. The branch was unable to send in the Pennies For Friendship as the District Annual was cancelled. Sheila Kenny had been contacted by Days For Girls and received bracelets and pins that can be sold as their fund raiser. Several members took fabric and the pattern and will cut out pieces for our next meeting. Members may contribute underwear and a fabric bag to complete the kits. It was recommended that we contact Family & Children’s Services to select a family and purchase Christmas gifts as we have done in the past. Filling purses for teens and women at Bernadette McCann House was also a consideration.

Sheila Kenny brought several items as door prizes and members paid $5.00 for 7 tickets to put in for the lucky draw. She also brought pictures of a pallet craft that could be completed by members. Paints could be purchased and the cost split between participating members. A tentative date of Oct. 20th, at 6:30 P.M. was suggested. This will all depend on the Ontario Guidelines for gatherings.
