PEMBROKE – The Renfrew County District School Board and Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, representing Educational Support Personnel, reached a tentative agreement on local terms and conditions for the 2019 to 2022 Collective Agreement. Details of the settlement are confidential until the ratification by both Parties, anticipated to occur in September.

“We thank the bargaining teams for their respective determination to develop an agreement,” said Renfrew County District School Chair Susan Humphries. “Despite the challenges of negotiating virtually, both sides never waivered from their commitment to work collaboratively in search of the common goal of supporting our students.”

“We are pleased that we have reached a tentative settlement with the Board. We believe this is a fair agreement which is respectful of the needs of our members,” said ETFO Renfrew County Education Support Personnel Local President, Colleen Mackin. “We began local negotiations in June and this concludes a very challenging year with what we believe is a positive outcome for our members. Our team would like to thank all our members for their patience and support as we worked to achieve an agreement.”

The ESP local represents over 250 employees that work across the District as an Educational Assistant, Communicative Disorder Assistant, Library Assistant, Inclusion Support Assistant or Supervisory Assistant.
