Killaloe OPP investigate hunting incident

RENFREW COUNTY (Killaloe) — On Tuesday October 8, at approximately 3:25 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an injured person who had received a gunshot wound in a hunting related incident on Siberia Road, in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

The 40 year old victim from Madawaska Valley Township was taken to hospital and remains in serious condition. The OPP’s Renfrew County Crime Unit have taken over the investigation, and are being assisted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

As a result of this investigation, the Renfrew County Crime Unit have arrested and charged 35 year old Shawn Russell of Madawaska Valley Township with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm and Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday November 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Killaloe.
