RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — November 25 was an exciting day for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Auxiliary and three lucky winners of the annual Christmas Raffle draw.

Patti Dillabough, RVH Foundation Executive Director, was on hand on to draw the tickets. First prize winner Sheila Wannamaker of Trenton was happily shocked when she received the call. “You’re kidding! Wow!” was her reaction. Second prize winner was Liz Hobden of Eganville and third prize was Kitty Curry of Renfrew. The early bird winner, drawn on the final day of Renfrew Fair, was Thomas Hunt of Almonte.

The prizes on offer, including an early bird draw fun pack, totalled $5.3 thousand.

The first prize Christmas Treasure Chest contained one thousand dollars in cash, along with a wide array of goodies such as a two-night stay in a jacuzzi suite at Days Inn Renfrew, auto detailing by George Jackson Toyota, golf passes from Renfrew Golf Course and so much more donated by generous community sponsors, for an approximate value of $3,685.

Second prize – with a value of $660 – was a ‘Rec Room Package’ that included a custom farm house coffee table, handwoven throw, Makala Ukulele from Mill Music, and a brewery gift pack donated by Calabogie Brewing Co.

Third prize, donated by Calabogie Peaks Resort, was two annual memberships for unlimited golf, tennis, boating, Beach Club, indoor pool, hot tub, and chair lift, plus discounts on ski and lift passes, accommodations, food, drinks and more, worth $630.

Auxiliary President Janie Bilson praised members and volunteers who helped to secure sponsors, organize the prize packages, and sell tickets to make this year’s draw such a success, raising just over $8.3 thousand.

“It’s a wonderful group of people who work well together for a very important cause.”

Bilson said that the latest fundraising efforts will go toward the auxiliary’s commitment in 2015 to raise $250 thousand for the Auxiliary Solarium, a quiet respite on the second floor of the hospital’s nephrology wing, where patients, family and staff can go to rest and recharge.

Bilson thanked all the sponsors, donors and supporters from the community. The auxiliary will make the final installment of its pledge in 2020. “We’re so fortunate to have a generous caring community,” noted Bilson.
