Four drivers charged with stunt driving in one day

RENFREW COUNTY On Sunday September 15, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol in Laurentian Valley Township (LVTP) on Highway 17.

Over the course of the day four drivers were charged with operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt – speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The charges resulted after the drivers exceeded the posted limit by 50 km/h or more. The charge details are as follows:

  • A 58-year-old driver from LVTP was caught driving 144 km/h. 
  • A 24-year-old driver from Sucker Creek First Nation, ON was caught driving 142 km/h. 
  • A 31-year-old driver from Patterson Township, ON was caught driving 144 km/h. 
  • A 35-year-old driver from Petawawa was caught driving 142 km/h. 

All drivers were driving in a posted 90 km/h zone at the time of the offences. 

All four drivers were issued a summons to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke. They also had their drivers licenses suspended and their vehicles towed and impounded, both for a period of seven days.
