Driver charged following two-vehicle collision

WHITEWATER REGION — On April 26 police arrested and charged 26-year-old Matthew Lindsay of Whitewater Region for involvement in a collision on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township. 
On April 11 officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 west of Mountain Road in Whitewater Region Township.   
The collision, which occurred just before noon, involved a westbound passenger vehicle and an eastbound Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) tractor trailer unit, which was carrying a load of lumber. The drivers were the lone occupants in each vehicle and were extricated by Whitewater Region firefighters. They were then transported to hospital by land ambulance. 
The driver of the CMV is a 53-year-old Quebec man who sustained serious injuries, while the driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries.  
Mr. Lindsay was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 28.
