WHITEWATER REGION — As previously noted, the Township was informed by Beaumen Waste Management Systems Ltd., our curbside garbage and recycling contractor, that they are “permanently closed” as of Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 10:44 p.m.

The Township has secured the services of Miller Waste Systems Inc. for curbside collection effective the week of July 8, 2019. Miller currently serves in the same capacity for the City of Pembroke, Town of Petawawa and Township of Laurentian Valley.

Recycling materials collected at curbside and the landfill will be sent to the Upper Ottawa Waste Recovery Centre for processing.

The only change to curbside collection will be recycling pick up for the area encompassing the former Township of Ross, including the hamlets of Foresters Falls, Haley Station and Haley Town Site. Effective next week, recycling pick-up will occur on Tuesday instead of Friday. Plastic bags are also no longer accepted with recycling.

We thank everyone for their patience during this transition. All other collection schedules remain the same.

Regular hours at the municipal landfill located at 990 Kohlsmith Road will resume next week, open Wednesday and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The site will also be open on Thursday, July 4 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, July 5 and 6, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this transition.
