Two Renfrew County farmers entered products into the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association competition, which was held at the Ottawa Valley Farm Show earlier this month..

Larry Raeburn, who farms in Whitewater Region, entered in the seeds category. He received a fourth-place finish in oats.

Maynard van der Galien, who farms in Admaston-Bromley Township, earned a first in legume (clove hay); a second for grass hay; third in second cut alfalfa and a third in mixed legume and grass.

Mr. van der Galien noted he has entered hay since the early 1970s.

It is discouraging, but he noted Renfrew County farmers have lost interest in exhibiting.
