RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation is preparing for the third Connect to Care Radio-Telethon which will take place at the Pembroke Mall on Friday, March 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will air on 104.9 myFM, and for the first time, it will be broadcast live on YourTV.

Hosted by beloved Ottawa Valley personality, Art Jamieson, the Radio-Telethon will unite audiences across the Valley to hear heart-warming stories from PRH nurses, doctors, former patients and donors. Throughout the day, the Pembroke Mall will be abuzz with live entertainment by home-grown talent Gillan Rutz, and performances by up-and-coming musicians such as Sierra Levesque in addition to dancers and other local entertainers. Representatives of the PRH health care team will also showcase the various programs and services available at Pembroke Regional Hospital.

Viewers and listeners are invited to extend their support by making a donation during the live broadcast by calling (613) 629-3343 (EDGE).

All proceeds from the event benefit the Cutting Edge Campaign to fund the cost of orthopaedic equipment and renovations to the surgical in-patient floor, which was built in the 1950’s.

“Mark your calendars for Friday, March 6,” said Mr. Jamieson. “Call in to support your Hospital with a pledge and possibly hear your name announced on the air!”

Recalling last year’s Radiothon, Mr. Jamieson called to mind notable visitors who presented their donations in-person:

“Caring individuals across the Valley came to show their support: a lovely young woman held a bake sale at her high school that raised over $600 for her hospital; one couple collected nearly $150 in cash donations from their community and taped it all up to a giant poster board for display.”

In the coming months, local businesses, community organizations, sports teams, churches, activity clubs and schools are invited to get involved by hosting their own fundraisers. “We are counting on the continued generosity, commitment and enthusiasm of Renfrew County communities to help continue the incredible advancements at our Pembroke Regional Hospital,” said PRHF Executive Director, Roger Martin. Stay tuned as the event grows and new guests and entertainment get added to the lineup.

Groups hosting fundraisers are encouraged to share social media posts of their events using the hashtag “#PRHFRadioTelethon”, which may be shared by 104.9 myFM and YourTV. Then, on March 6, a representative can join host Art Jamieson at the Pembroke Mall to present their contribution and have their photo taken for the media.
