Collision at HWY 17, Whitewater Rd.

WHITEWATER REGION —  A two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Highway (HWY) 17 and Whitewater Road in Whitewater Region (WWR) on March 27 at approximately 4:45 p.m., which members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to. The collision involved a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) tractor trailer that was westbound on HWY 17 and a passenger vehicle that was northbound on Whitewater Road.  

The Laurentian Valley Township Fire Department, assisted by the Pembroke Fire Department, extricated the driver of the passenger vehicle. The 68 year old driver, a resident of WWR, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported from the scene by land ambulance. There were no passengers in the passenger vehicle. The driver and passenger in the CMV were not injured. 

As a result of this investigation the driver of the CMV, a 53 year old resident of Saint-Andre-d’Argenteuil, Québec, has been charged with the following Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offence: Red light – fail to stop. As a result of the collision Highway 17 was reduced to one lane until approximately 8:00 p.m.
