Charity Tournament Raises $4,200 for Renfrew Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit, KidSport Renfrew County

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — On September 6, there were 65 enthusiastic golfers who set out to drive home the importance of giving back.  This was the fifteenth Annual Warden’s Cup Invitational Golf Tournament was hosted this year by County of Renfrew Warden Jennifer Murphy at the beautiful Whitetail Golf Club in Bonnechere Valley Township. The best ball format shotgun start tournament saw teams from across the county and beyond turn out for 18 holes of golf, dinner, and prizes all in support of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit and KidSport Renfrew County.   

“I want to take an opportunity to thank each participant and every sponsor for their generosity and support with making the fifteenth Annual Tournament such a success.  I also congratulate the winning team for a match well played; that being said the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit and KidSport Renfrew County are the real winners today.  Fundraising events like this tournament are a real testament to the giving nature of our residents;” said County of Renfrew Warden, Jennifer Murphy.

Warden Jennifer Murphy presented Erin Prentice, a Registered Nurse in the Oncology Unit at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital a cheque in the amount of $2,100, and an additional cheque for $2,100 was presented to Glenn Arthur, President of KidSport Renfrew County.  To date the charity tournament has raised $59,560.83 for local charities over the last 15 years.

 Later in the day during the presentations, event Emcee Bruce Beakley, Director of Human Resources at the County of Renfrew announced the winning team from Jp2G Consultants Inc. The happy winners, Rob Sapinski, Steve Webster, Travis Bimm, and Andrew Buzza gratefully accepted their trophy and prizes in front of an applauding crowd in the clubhouse.
