WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden)— Last night at the meeting of the Council of the Township of Whitewater Region, four by-laws were read and passed. The motion was carried, being moved by Councillor Dave Mackay and seconded by Reeve Cathy Regier.

By-law 19-12-1228 authorizes the execution of a service contract for the collection and transportation of garbage and recyclable material with Miller Waste Systems Inc.

By-law 19-12-1229 being passed established a customer service, complaint and compliment policy. This policy enables the Township to provide continuous improvement and open communication with the public. This will be by a process where comments, positive or negative, are addressed as quickly as possible and dealt with fairly, in a respectful manner.

The passing of by-law 19-12-1230 established an accessible customer service policy. This policy will provide general guidelines as to the level of customer service expected from the staff of the Township to ensure the most efficient and effective service delivery.

By-law 19-12-1231 establishes an unreasonable customer behaviour policy. This policy will guide Township staff in identify situations which meet the criteria of, “vexatious, frivolous and/or unreasonable.” The associated actions may be undertaken in such circumstances. The goal of this policy is to contribute to the overall intent of dealing with individuals or groups in ways which are consistent, fair and reasonable. It also acknowledges there may be a need to shield staff from unreasonable behaviour.
