Dear Mr. Donald Deer and Mr. Gary Younghusband:

Thank you again for your application submitted on June 23, 2017, under Part IV of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993. I appreciate the time and effort you have invested on this matter.

This letter is to inform you that the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) has completed its review. As outlined in the August 17, 2017 letter, the Ministry’s review was focused on examining whether existing environmental policy, legislation, regulations, tools, programs and plans are able to address the issues related to water quality in Muskrat Lake (i.e., phosphorous contamination) in accordance with the Ministry’s mandate. As per subsection 71(1) of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993, the Ministry is providing a notice of the results of the review, in the form of the attached EBR Part IV Review Summary.

If you have any questions regarding the attached, please contact Madhu Malhotra at (647) 200-7488, or [email protected]. Questions about the Environmental Bill of Rights process can be addressed to Scott Shaw at (647) 632-1470, or [email protected].

Thank you again for your interest in this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Bruce Bateman, Assistant Deputy

Minister, Land and Water Division
