Pilot Christopher Cranford, a 58-year-old North Bay man, suffered minor injuries after his Champion plane overturned at the Bruce McPhail Memorial Airport near Cobden on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 13. OPP Communications Officer Janice Sawbridge noted the police received the call shortly after 1 p.m. that a plane was observed overturned at the airport. The Renfrew County Paramedics, as well as Whitewater Region Fire Department, responded to the scene. Const. Sawbridge said it’s believed as the pilot was landing, a gust of wind occurred, overturning the plane. However, Transport Canada is investigating the incident.
