CAO Trembley outlined the OPP Annial Billing Summary, saying there was a reduction of 18 dollars for the OPP, dropping from $183.23 to $177.48.

He said Whtiewater’s average total calls was 842 for 2019. He said there was increase in property crime.

Councillor Olmstead commented about them being “Very concerned” with property rates doubling three years ago, and was pleased with the change. He also expressed that Whitewater his a third of the average property crime cost than Pembroke.

Councillor McLaughlin suggested the change was due to education regarding unnecessary calls and emphasized continued efforts to instruct the public regarding when it is appropriate to call.

Councillor Nicholson pointed out that drop 911 calls, calls that they are mandated to respond to because the call was lost, went from 9 to 87, suggesting if it’s something that needed to be addressed.

The mayor asked if it could be related to Covid-19.
